I photographed Evelyn and Jon’s wedding last night. PHOTO GALLERY HERE! You might remember them from their engagement photos, click here to see. They are so much fun to photograph and a blast to hang out with. It was a hot day but a least not 95, sunny, with 95% humidity. I loved Eve’s dress. Very classy and looked amazing on her. I’m done shooting weddings for July as I will be shooting photos for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan and riding in their wish a mile, 300 mile bike ride. Then I’m taking my kids camping. Eve had these cool little cards made with the images from the engagement photo shoot we did. They are from Moo printing, 100 for $20. As many images as you want. I’m thinking of having some made as wedding business cards/promo cards. They are fun.

Jon and Eve are for sure Rock-N-Roll. While they didn’t have a full on rNr wedding they had little touches of it to make their own. Nice tie!

I photographed Mandy and Dave’s wedding ceremony and reception Saturday June 26th in Ann Arbor, Michigan. What a very nice, simple, relaxed wedding. Everyone was real relaxed, no stress at all just plain fun! Thank you both for letting me be a part of your day to capture some wonderful images. I was lucky enough to photograph a friends wedding this past weekend. Gus and I met years ago mountain biking and we became team mates on a mountain bike team for several years. Both of us have since stopped racing but I was thrilled when Gus called and asked me if I would photograph him and Jess on their wedding day. They had a small morning/early afternoon Mormon wedding. Not long, simple and very nice. Photographs are not permitted of LDS/Mormon wedding ceremonies so my day shooting was less hectic then normal. They had a temple ceremony and then a church ceremony. So I waited outside the temple for them and then photographed the two changing for the church service. After was a lunch reception and we were done early in the day. We were on a tight schedule and didn’t have a lot of time for portraits but I like what we came up with.  Thanks Gus for letting me tag along. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day.

Congrats to Lindsay and Rick!! Married last night at Wellers in Saline, Michigan. I had a great time photographing their wedding for. CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT A PHOTO GALLERY WITH SOME OF MY FAVORITES FROM THE DAY. So the night before was a stormy night. I was out shooting storm photos in Northville Friday night. Turns out one of the house that was damaged was the father-in-law of the brides sister, weird. Anyway the rain cleared out and although it was cloudy for the wedding day, which is perfect light for an outdoor wedding, the rain held of through the ceremony and portraits. Then the rain showed up and continued to get harder. Turns out there was a tornado watch out and then a tornado warning with a possible radar indicated tornado in Ypsilanti, Michigan about 15 miles east of were we were. (see photo below of radar on my iPhone)  Hey like I tweeted last night its not a party unless there is a tornado warning. Lindsay, Rick and their guests were not worried about the rain at all and had a great time!

By the way if you are looking for a DJ Zack Carter, aka DJ Zack Daniels, played their wedding last night and he has a great style. I really liked working with him. 1. We could be sitting in a cubicle right now processing paperwork….for the rest of our lives.
2. Seeing something that no one else sees.
23. Lying awake at night thinking of new story ideas and waking up the next morning and forgetting them.
34. A bad day making pictures is still better then a good day swinging a hammer.
36. Making a bride cry.
40. Everytime you tell someone what you do, they NEVER say “Oh, man, that must suck.”
44. Chicken salad.
51. Having an excuse to approach a complete stranger and find out who they are.
60. Shooting a photo just for yourself.
64. It takes one picture to say what a 30 inch story can, and it translates into every language imaginable.

“You may kiss the bride.” The moment caught in a photograph with a remote camera. I’m in the back taking photos, can you find me? And at the same time I have a camera with a wide angle lens mounted behind and above the couple to get a different view of the same moment in a photo. I use wireless triggers so when I take a picture from the back the other camera also take a picture. If you look at the photo below you can see what the moment looked like from where I was standing. The box marks where the camera is hidden behind the flowers. Sports photographers use remote camera all the time. Mounted on backboards at basketball games, in the net at a hockey game or maybe overhead at a football game. But what better place then at a wedding to use them. That way I can get shots from locations I can’t be. Even if I worked with a 2nd photographer more often that person wouldn’t be able to stand right next to the couple either. It would kind of wreck the moment don’t you think. I don’t always get a real nice photo from the remote but you just never know. So when interviewing photographers ask them if they use remote cameras at all.

The image above was shot with a remote camera and the image below shows where it is hidden at the alter of this church.

This remote was under a chair in the front row. I just had to make sure a guy would be sitting there (no dress hanging down), find out who and ask him to keep his feet apart.
